TOP CHINESE AWARD FOR FINNISH
TECHNOLOGY
Golden Bridge Award presented to Wetend Technologies Ltd.
Wetend Technologies Ltd. of Savonlinna,
Finland has received a Golden Bridge Award for its TrumpJet® technology
from the China Technology Market Association (CTMA) of the Ministry of Science
& Technology, People's Republic of China, where it has demonstrated
remarkable savings in energy and fresh water consumption as well as reduced
carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions in paper mills.
The significance of
Wetend Technology's patented TrumpJet® technology is that it injects and
mixes additives and chemicals into high-volume process flows easily, quickly
and efficiently without the need for water. Thus the use of fresh or circulated
process water and associated heating energy are eliminated, along with
associated CO2 emissions. Wetend Technologies is supplying TrumpJet
installations to China for the largest coated fine paper machine in the world.
After start up in 2009, these systems will save approx. 2.3 million cubic
meters of fresh water per annum with an energy saving of 77 000 MWh. The energy
saving will reduce CO2 emissions by 44 000 tpa.

The Golden Bridge Award was presented by Mr Han De Qian, Director
of the Science and Technology Committee and received by CEO, Mr Jouni Matula
and Director, Mr. Pekka Kotila of Wetend Technologies Ltd., and Ms. Zhang Min,

Environmental benefits
Golden Bridge Awards, presented
biennially since 2003 across a wide range of technologies, aim to recognize and
support new technologies, research and development, the introduction of
advanced new technologies in China, and the development of an innovative,
technically advanced and harmonious environment in China. 70 awards were made
this year.
To date, Wetend Technologies has supplied 220 TrumpJet
systems to 20 European countries, the USA, Canada, Japan, Korea, Indonesia and
China. Altogether these installations save approximately 33 million cubic
meters of fresh water annually. The corresponding energy saving is 1.3 Million
MWh, which in turn reduces CO2 emissions by 1 million tpa. TrumpJet technology
also reduces the consumption of chemicals and improves the quality of the end
product.
