Icecom launches LiveEngine™ - the instant VoIP/CoIP enabler for web and desktop applications

Icecom, communications technology provider based in Finland, has launched a plug-and-play VoIP/CoIP enabler for web and desktop applications. Icecom LiveEngine™ is a desktop component that provides instant VoIP, Instant Messaging and Presence services for any web application or portal as well as for native Windows applications. LiveEngine and other Icecom’s products and services are presented at VON Europe in Berlin 7-8th of November.

Icecom LiveEngine can be embedded into web pages using simple Javascript and on the other hand, native Windows™ .NET family applications can utilize LiveEngine using simple but sophisticated API’s. This technology guarantees fast time-to-market and significant reduction on development costs. LiveEngine is based on SIP (Session Initiation Protocol) standards and provides pre-IMS capabilities.

“Unique in Icecom LiveEngine is the fact that it fits into any application - web or native - that requires converged communications capabilities. For example Web-based e-mail services can be easily upgraded by integrating the Icecom LiveEngine™ into it. With the Application Programmer's Interface (API) of LiveEngine, it is possible to attach Presence information, Instant Messages, IP-to-IP calls and IP-to-PSTN calls into the webmail service“, Mikko Elo, Business Development Director of Icecom explains. Also native Windows messaging and softphone clients can be developed in days when utilizing Icecom LiveEngine technology. The technology is also being used in various vertical businesses, including healthcare and enhanced customer services.
