Iqua Ltd. of Espoo, Finland is a
new player in mobile communications, founded by personnel with extensive
experience in global mobile communications and specializing in the design and
manufacture of wireless accessories for mobile phones and other mobile
devices.
"Our mission is to create innovative and stylish products that
provide the freedom to communicate wirelessly," is how the CEO Juha Reima
describes Iqua's philosophy. It is unique for a new mobile company to have such
a long and solid expertise to build on: Iqua's core team includes former Nokia
and Ericsson employees with over 100 years of combined international expertise
in the business.
Juha Reima worked at Nokia for 15 years. His
last position was as Vice President of Nokia Mobile Phones, responsible for the
accessories business unit globally. He thought long about the idea of a new
company dedicated to wireless design accessories before resigning to start
Iqua.
EXHIBITS at CeBIT
Iqua, which launched the
BHS-601 headset late in 2004, is previewing a range of new products in Hall 11,
Stand B19 at CeBIT 2005. During the year, the company plans to launch a series
of new products and to establish distribution channels throughout the EU
countries and the CIS.
Limited-edition headsets with a difference
New limited-edition models of the Bluetooth wireless headset
BHS-601 (Fig. 1) will be previewed at CeBIT. The headset features a slim,
Nordic design and a flexible earhook which adjusts to the shape of the ear; it
weighs only 18 grams.
For the "twenty-somethings", colorful new cover
designs will appeal to young women, while the funky striped zebra design is
aimed at fashion-conscious young men.
Safer driving with the new
Iqua Snake headrest hands-free
Also being launched at CeBIT is
Iqua's new "Snake", a Bluetooth headrest hands-free (Fig. 2) designed to
encourage safer driving. The combination of brushed metal and leather blends
well with car interiors. The flexible design means that the Snake can be
adjusted to match the user's height. It is simple to install and no
professional maintenance is required.
The Snake has a power on/off
control and a volume control. There are two buttons - one for answering/ending
a call and for last call redial, and a second button for voice/mute dialing.
The internal rechargeable batteries use the same base connector as Nokia, and
talk time is over a week.
Elegant new tabletop solution to easy call
management
Iqua's new streamlined "UFO" is a Bluetooth portable
hands-free device for use in the office, home or when traveling. It provides a
convenient solution to easy call management, and the classic design of the UFO
circular table-top model has definite "gimme" appeal (Fig. 3).
"Saturday evening at home, hands full cooking a meal," is how Reima describes a
typical situation where the device comes in handy. "I can call my parents while
my children talk to their grandparents at the same time."
Although the
UFO is only pocket-sized, the display incorporates clock, alarm, caller
identification, phonebook, read messages, and low-battery warning. It provides
a comfortable, easy-to-use option for those who don't like headsets and enables
group conversations as well as one-to-one communication.
New
Bluetooth GPS Receiver for in-car use
At CeBIT, Iqua is also
launching its new Bluetooth GPS Receiver GPS 600 (Fig. 4), for use with a
mobile phone, PDA or PC, which can be combined with navigation software. For
example, the Iqua GPS 600 with Navicore personal navigation software transforms
your mobile phone into a fully-fledged personal navigation system.
With
Iqua GPS 600, your mobile phone generates 2D and 3D views with easy-to-follow
directions to your chosen destination using selected navigation software.
Wireless connection between mobile phone and GPS receiver is supplied by a
Bluetooth radio link. The battery is a high-performance Li-polymer rechargeable
600 mAh. Operating time is 6 hours, standby time 300 h. Six LEDs show the
status of Bluetooth/GPS/battery and charging.
The Iqua GPS 600 package
includes the GPS receiver, hardware key, carrying case, car charger, as well as
a demo CD, user guide, and navigation software in an MMC.
