INTELLIGENT 3D MODELLING SOFTWARE
for
THE STRUCTURAL STEEL INDUSTRY
Tekla Xsteel 6.0 is the latest version of the 3D modelling, detailing and material listing software for the structural steel industry, developed by the Tekla Corporation, Espoo, Finland. It gives clients the competitive edge by setting new standards of productivity, flexibility and accuracy. Xsteel 6.0 is available in a variety of languages with local standards covering 20 geographical areas. Current language versions include English, French, German, Spanish, Dutch, Italian, Japanese and Chinese.
In 3D modelling software, the model not only contains the geometry model of the object, it also includes all the relevant additional data needed for the completion of the structure. Xsteel enables the creation of a 3D model containing all the information needed for the total modelling, detailing, fabrication, assembly and erection. In contrast to older 2D systems, Xsteel allows the user to detail free form structures of even the most complex geometry.
To the user, Xsteels model-based technology translates into effective use of their most valuable resource - time. Xsteel ensures total consistency and production accuracy, as all data is drawn from a single source.
Modelling enhancements
Xsteel 6.0 uses Open GL technology, making it possible to work in real time 3D - all the time. All modelling can now take place in rendered view, where enhanced pan, zoom, rotate and fly through features further facilitate the engineering process. Alternatively, wire frame, shaded frame or hidden lines display modes are available.
Automated processes
Xsteel 6.0 provides an impressive suite of tools designed to automate routine work. AutoDefault settings enable the creation of company or project standards for connections and will automatically apply user-defined default settings based on profiles (types or depths), skew angles, forces, etc.
AutoConnection settings select and apply connections automatically to selected members.
It also comes armed with a comprehensive library of connections, further expanded in version 6.0. Intelligent connection technology means modifications to the structures geometry automatically trigger changes to the relevant connections, drawings and material lists.
Version 6.0 features a new option to clone drawings, allowing text and dimensions to be copied into drawings of similar parts.
Reduced Production Time
In order to reduce production time and improve accuracy, Xsteel 6.0 automatically creates CNC data for all items in the structure. A new module - Xsteel/Nest is also available which creates the optimal layout pattern for cutting plates.
Macros and lists
Xsteel automatically generates parts, material, assembly, bolt, weld, shipping and drawings lists as well as center of gravity reports.
New macros are constantly being developed for markets all over the world, with additional ones for handrail, stair, tower and truss modelling featured in version 6.0.
Multi user environment
In Xsteels multi user environment entire project teams of detailers and designers can work simultaneously on the same model, further enhancing productivity whilst minimizing potential errors.
Interface designed for clarity
Xsteel 6.0 has a standard Windows NT/ 2000 interface, designed with the clarity and consistency needed in a detail-oriented industry. Easy to use menus, status and log bars and dialog boxes make navigating the system simple and Xsteel 6.0 also features floating, customizable toolbars.
Enhanced project collaboration
Faced with the challenge of ever-shrinking timeframes in todays global marketplace, the structural steel industry demands effective teamwork and reduced man-hours on every project.
Tekla Xsteel makes effective collaboration between the detailer and designer a reality in the construction phase, through its ability to link to many design, analysis and plant packages using various outputs. Version 6.0 includes improved DXF and DGN exports and support for CIM Steel, using the latest CIS standard - CIS/2, for fast, accurate integration of the total structure.
Today and into the future
As a company, Tekla is committed to providing customers with the most advanced software available in the world and so reinvest heavily in research and product development. Feedback from customers also has a strong influence on version development. This approach to business means you can count on Tekla Xsteel today and into the future.
